RIP Paul Weller

Paul Weller, singer, songwriter, guitarist with the Jam and leader of the Style Council has died in a helicopter crash at a remote cattle station in Western Australia's Kimberley.

The 49 year old singer from Woking, Surrey in the UK who was piloting the rotorcraft died after his Robinson R22 helicopter crashed and burst into flames at Doongan Station, west of Wyndham where Weller has a cattle ranch.

A team from the Air Transport Safety Bureau is expected to arrive at the station tomorrow.

Ian Hasleby from Police media says it is not yet known how the accident happened.

"The crash happened in a fairly remote area and because of the fire that was started as a result of the crash," he said.

"It's taken a little while longer for police and also those that were putting out the bushfire to get close to the crash scene."
